When the civil war broke out in Spain in July 1936, the fleet of armored vehicles in the Spanish Army was extremely small and heterogeneous, with several of the survivors of the Engineer armored vehicles that participated in the Moroccan campaigns remaining in service and little else. The only wheeled armored vehicle present in a significant number and of national manufacture was the so-called BILBAO ARMORED CAR MODEL 1932, which served both in the Army and, very especially, in the public order forces.
