Between 1909 and 1927, the Spanish Army fought different wars for control of the Protectorate in northern Morocco. These campaigns promoted the use of all available military material and the acquisition abroad of that which the national industry could not provide. The Spanish Army became the world pioneer in the use of armored vehicles in armed conflicts, with the use of Schneider Brillié armored trucks as early as 1910, ahead of any other nation. Starting in 1921, after the so-called “Annual Disaster”, the Spanish Army had to hastily search for modern military materials to confront the enemy.
