The New Evil, Trackpad

THEY CALLED US ... THE NEW EVIL - Memories from Afghanistan 2006-2008. 

This is the story of one man - an experienced Canadian tanker who saw two tours in the Afghanistan theatre from 2006-2008, commanding both Leopard 1 and Leopard 2.

"By now, the sun was up but it was still overcast. I could see Kheybari Ghar Mountain as we approached from the south-east. The terrain was still open, but there were now more villages starting to appear as we travelled north. I managed to find one of the main routes in the area and followed it until we were on the outskirts of the town of Bazar-i-Panjwai. I then followed the paved road through the town. ....I could see on the Afghan faces that they were unsure of what to make of us. Some of the children waved, while other people seemed to disappear. I heard a report on the radio that our interpreter, through reliable sources, had overheard the locals calling us, THE NEW EVIL"
